HOT TIPS
As with any exercise, playing sport makes demands on
the body. In order to ensure peak physical performance and maintain
focus and concentration, it is crucial to ‘fuel’ and ‘repair’ the body
before, during and after exercise or playing a game.
TIP 1
You need to fuel the body
20 minutes before exercise by taking in short term fuel - carbohydrate
and protein, ideally in a drink form.
TIP 2
Dehydration is the biggest single
problem in sport. If you wait until you are thirsty it’s too late, so
get used to drinking water every 15 minutes. If it is very hot or you
are in heavy training then drink even more.
TIP
3 Refuel every hour and
when you finish ensure you drink carbohydrate and protein WITHIN THIRTY
MINUTES. You may not feel like eating or drinking but the body has a
window of half an hour during which time refuelling is most efficient.

TIP 4
Repairing the muscles and
recovering quickly is obviously beneficial so ensure you take good
quality protein within two hours (maximum) of finishing. In order to
