The programmes help clients to gradually change their eating habits so that they can control their weight long term. For example, getting back into the routine of eating 3 times a day, getting a better balance of protein and carbs in their diets and finding alternatives for carb based snacks. What's a healthy breakfast? Is it cereals and toast?

And for sports clients we have a programme focused on "fuelling, hydration, refuelling, repair and recovery" which helps clients understanding nutrient timing.

So you think that someone can lose weight or improve performance at sports through a healthy balanced diet? See quote from Dr Adam Carey, Head of Nutrition at the Rugby Football Union.

"The reason is not because most people don't eat any green vegetables," Carey says. "It's actually because the nutritional content of the food we eat is now significantly reduced to what it was 50 or 100 years ago."

Modern farming techniques - including the use of fertilisers and pesticides - mean modern food is less full of vitamins and minerals than similar produce even one or two generations ago, Carey explains. "We're seeing a gradual erosion of the nutritional content of food... in everything from the vitamin C content of oranges through to the zinc and copper levels in corns and other grains."

And those nutritional deficits are beginning to show - Carey says one in 10 young adults is deficient in one or more vitamins and minerals, with the numbers rising to 33% in the elderly. "While I would very much like to be in a world where I could encourage my children to eat only fruits and vegetables and good sources of meat, actually the reality of that is that we are sorely lacking in a number of areas," Carey warns. "And so supplementation may have a role to play."

How do we earn money with Herbalife?

Its a combination of retail sales(profits), commissions, royalties, vacations and special promotions so initially 3 sources of income plus additional benefits.

Its a business with a product and a service(the weight loss challenge). A part-time income is typically in the range of £500-£1500 a month. New Wellness Clubs (one of the main activities) have accelerated the income to £1000 + per club. So 2 clubs = £ 2000+. Full time income = £2000- £10,000** a month.  **Earnings are unlimited.

Retail Profits - The Quick Start Programme works out at about £1.75 a meal, compared to the meal deal (sandwich, crisps and coke of £2.99) So with re-orders after 3 weeks, clients typically spend £85-£100 a month. So you are making a profit of say £40 a month at the maximum discount. So 30 customers x £40 = £1200 working part time. This could be working with customers one to one on the phone or via a weight loss challenge.

Wholesale Commission / Royalties - So you have acquired some new skills,  you know what questions to ask our clients to understand their challenges, you understand the programmes. You have too many clients. How about passing on that knowledge to others?

Take the UK as an example, there are 62 million people in the UK. How many will switch to our breakfast option, in your team? NOTE THIS IS A BUSINESS WITH A PRODUCT THAT IS CONSUMABLE ON A DAILY BASIS. SO CUSTOMERS CAN BE ON THE PROGRAMMES FOR 3-6 MONTHS OR A LIFETIME.

Are you in an job /profession where your income is limited by your own time? A personal trainer for example, that can only work with 5 clients a day or 25 a week. Option A - To get started as a Wellness Coach we recommend that you start using the products. Taking a shake in place of your lunch or breakfast. Understand how we personalise the programmes for the individual based on your own personal experience. You can order 1 through 4 products. The standard kit, contains 4 products. It also contains registration form, manuals, DVD and all the information you need to get started. Complete the registration form in the IBP and your details are added to the Herbalife Computer System allowing you to work in any of 80 countries. The standard IBP with 4 products costs £69.95**. And now includes a free training day. With this option, your details are added to our directories by post code.

Option C - Do you have a twitter account, or facebook or other type of social networking site? Join our free affiliate programme and add links to web sites, blogs, directories etc. Here you don't have any direct contact with our clients, hence the income is lower. Its a way of getting started.

3. Use the products. Take the shake in place of cereals/toast or skipping breakfast or your lunch. Most cereals don't contain that much fibre and many contain lots of sugar! 4. Watch and listen to two live training webinars held weekday evenings at 9pm(usually on a Tuesday and Thursday). These cover the fundamentals of how to get started.

5. Make a decision whether you are looking for extra income or is it a drive towards financial independence from this business. Set some goals for yourself or nothing will happen!

6. Sign into training web sites. As you can expect from a £3 billon company,  we do a lot of training online e.g. audio and video training. Print off checklists covering all areas of our business.

7. Attend  a training day (ID 8905) usually held at the weekend between the hours of 10am and 4pm, now free of charge when you order the IBP. These training days take place every 4-6 weeks.

Month 2 - Attend a 2nd training day, for example on the Arriba Weight Loss Challenge, which costs £16 (half day). These takes place every 3-4 months.

Month 3 - Attend a 3rd training day, a higher level training, which costs £25. This takes place every 3-4 months.

** Why is the entry cost so low? Most people start the business part time and then increase their hours over time. You are effectively investing your time.

Considering a Franchise Type Business? The advantage is that the franchisor gives you support - usually including training, help setting up the business, a manual telling you how to run the business and ongoing advice. But also the disadvantages? The start up costs typically run into thousands, and you pay continuing management service fees. The franchisor often resents paying these fees after the first couple of years.

But why do business owners invest in businesses? If you put GBP 100 in a  savings account you make GBP 5 in 12 months time. If you invest GBP 100 in a business you make GBP 50 in a day ! 1 – Balance Your Diet
