Wellness Clubs -Introduction

Wellness is the central trend for the coming decades

Introduction
There is a superb book called 'The Tipping Point' by Malcolm Gladwell. Without diminishing the need for you to go out and devour the book, let us highlight one of its key messages:

'There is a time when an idea or a trend becomes accepted by the masses. At that point, all barriers fall and the product concept or belief flourishes beyond all imagination.'

The tipping point is that moment when ideas, trends and social behaviours cross a threshold, tip and spread like wild fire. The tipping point for Wellness in the workplace and wellness in the community has arrived.

Within the UK and Ireland there is now a genuine commitment from governing bodies and forward thinking business leaders to ensure we all begin the process of pursing a healthier lifestyle. 'Wellness in the Workplace' and 'Wellness in the Community' are set to become recognised phrases that carry a clear message.

Brand Image

With that in mind we have decided to build our 'Brand Image' as a body of people who are trained and prepared to deliver precisely that message to anyone ready to take positive action.  Herbalife Community Wellness Coaches have a holistic approach to customer care and recognise that Herbalife products need to be used as part of an overall strategy  that promotes a healthier lifestyle.

How we communicate as a society is changing rapidly. Traditionally, the local pub was seen by many as a mini debating chamber where rights and wrongs were argued into the night. Talk to any landlord or examine the data and you will see the pub trade is now in crisis, while at the same time the Wellness Industry is booming. The debate at the Tennis Club or Gymnasium in some circles has now replaced the pub. So how does that affect you as a Wellness Coach?

Let's look at some more evidence that people enjoy meeting in a club or a class environment. In the UK alone there are literally tens of thousands of Wellness or Sports orientated clubs and classes, ranging from Rugby, Football, Pilates, Yoga, Weight Training, etc. The list goes on. In addition to this there are also thousands of specific Weight Loss classes with literally hundreds of thousands of people each week attending a club or class. Even though their goal is to become healthier or to improve their performance, one thing very few of them have access to is top quality nutrition products and advice all in one location.

The customer club/class concept is already hugely successful in the UK and Ireland and has proven itself to be an excellent social platform to teach and train on everything Herbalife stands for.

Where and what type of club could I establish?

The clubs can be launched in many different ways, in many different locations. Location is always the key, so think about ease of access in an area where there is enough of a target group for members.

Your details will be added to this various directories.

Clubs are designed to provide advice to various communities while exposing people to our brand, products, and opportunity in a professional manner. Essentially any location where you could meet people at least once a week will be a venue possibility.

a. Wellness Clubs in the Community
b. Wellness Clubs in Health Clubs, Gyms, Leisure Centres
c. Wellness Clubs in the Workplace
d. Wellness Clubs in Sports clubs

Great feedback to date. Here is some example feedback from Health Clubs:

" we should be doing more in the diet area"
" members are asking for diet advice"
" we like the support materials you provide, everything is structured"
" love the members handbooks"
" easy way for our members to be offered personalised programmes"
" we like the  "fuelling/hydration/refuelling/repair/recovery" sports diet concept"

Key service elements to members include a body composition analysis, wellness evaluation and education on nutrition.

3. Receive your copy of the Member’s Handbook. This contains the core information you will need to help
you develop a healthier, more active lifestyle, along with the support from your Wellness Coach. You will
also be able to record your Tanita and tape measurements through your first 12-weeks.

Example - Creating a club in the Workplace

When you visit our websites and familiarize yourself with the documents that outline the business community and government's strategy for promoting Wellness in the Workplace, you will clearly see the opportunity that lies ahead of you. The plain truth is that it makes perfect sense for them to partner with our commitment to bringing this message to the workforce.

In 2006, 175 million working days were lost through sickness absence in the UK - 3.3% of total working time - costing the economy £13.4bn or £537 per employee. Study the facts and you will be able to present some powerful reasons for them to establish and promote a club for their workforce.

Focus on the benefits to both employee and employer.

Business benefits include: improved productivity, reduced sickness and absence rates, improved staff engagement, workplace satisfaction, staff retention, improved profitability and a positive impact on brand. Additionally, the employee sees that the employer cares for the workforce and has a facility in house that is dedicated to assisting them in all areas of their Wellness Strategy.

You can use the same structure as the community clubs or tailor your service to match a company's specific brand. Simply help management to establish one or more regular time slots each week, where staff have an opportunity to come together to ensure they are focused on achieving optimum health.

By creating a fun, informative, and friendly atmosphere we help employees to make positive choice to improve their overall lifestyle. Every member is offered a comprehensive wellness questionnaire, professional body composition analysis and advice on simple changes they can make to improve their lifestyle. Through consistent support, many of the members make decisions that lead to significant health benefits. Additionally, many clubs go on to raise the profile of their company or department in the community by raising funds for local charities. The businesses are able to put themselves forward as candidates for Wellness in the Workplace awards.

What is Wellness?

“ The condition of good physical and mental health, especially when maintained by proper diet, exercise and habits.”–American Heritage Dictionary

“Wellness is about waking up every morning and having enough time, energy and freedom to live the life you want.”

The Keys to Optimum Wellness

1 – Balance Your Diet

You need to get enough of the right foods including colourful fruits and vegetables, protein, good carbohydrates and just enough good fats for the taste you want. You also need vitamins, minerals and fibre from dietary supplements to provide the nutrition missing from your diet that your cells need for good health.

2 – Exercise Regularly

Regular exercise can help you feel and look your best. Exercise conditions your heart and relieves stress and makes it easier to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

3 – Drink Lots of Water

Your body is about two-thirds water. In an average day, you lose at least one pint of water even without excessive sweating. To feel your best, you should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.

Steps for Achieving Optimum Wellness:

Have an evaluation of your personal wellness.

Identify key areas you need to impact to reach your wellness goals.

Get recommendations from your Personal Wellness Coach.

Make a plan of action that you can commit to.
